Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
WARNING
Failure to strictly adhere to the safety warnings and operational instructions regarding the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system can lead to severe vehicle damage, serious personal injury, or even fatalities.
- The RCTA system is a convenience feature and is not a substitute for vigilant driving habits. It is not designed to prevent contact with vehicles, pedestrians, or stationary objects. When you are maneuvering your Nissan Leaf out of a parking space, always perform a physical check of your surroundings: utilize your side and rearview mirrors, and physically turn your head to observe the path your vehicle will travel. Never place total reliance on the RCTA system alone.
The RCTA system is designed to provide driver assistance when backing out of a parking space, especially when visibility is limited. When your Nissan Leaf is shifted into Reverse (R), the system monitors for other vehicles approaching from either the left or right side of your vehicle. Should the system detect a potential cross-traffic collision risk, it will immediately issue an alert.
