Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Cup holders

Front center console cup holders in the Nissan Leaf
Front

CAUTION

  • Avoid abrupt starting, sharp cornering, and sudden braking when the central cup holder is being used to prevent spilling your beverages. If the container holds hot liquid, accidental spills can severely scald you or your passenger.
  • Use only soft or flexible cups in the designated cup holder compartments.

Hard or rigid objects placed in these areas can become dangerous loose projectiles and cause serious personal injury during a collision or sudden stop.

CAUTION

  • Do not use the door bottle holder to store any loose, solid objects that could be thrown about inside the cabin, as they may injure occupants during emergency maneuvers or unexpected accidents.
  • Do not use the integrated bottle holder for open or unsealed liquid containers, which are prone to splashing and making a mess.

Tonneau cover

WARNING

  • Never place items of any kind on top of the tonneau cover, regardless of how small or light they may appear. Any object resting on the cover can fly forward and cause significant injury to passengers during an accident or sudden stop.
  • Do not leave the cargo cover lying loose inside the passenger cabin if it has been disengaged from its factory anchor holders.
  • Properly secure all trunk cargo with durable ropes or tie-down straps to prevent items from sliding or shifting during transit. Never stack luggage or cargo higher than the rear seatbacks; in a severe collision, unsecured items can be dangerous to occupants.
  • Carefully position all cargo and ensure it does not touch the child safety top tether strap when it is anchored to the top tether bracket. Loose items that contact or rub against the tether strap can chafe, weaken, or cut it during a collision. If the rigid tonneau cover interferes with the top tether strap when a child seat is installed, you must remove the cargo cover entirely from the Nissan Leaf or store it securely on the trunk floor beneath the attachment area. Failing to remove an interfering cargo cover risks destroying the structural integrity of the top tether strap during a crash, which could lead to severe injury or death for a child occupant.

The integrated tonneau cover is designed to keep your luggage compartment contents completely hidden from outside view, enhancing security when parking your Nissan Leaf.

Removing the tonneau cover retaining straps from the rear hatch of the Nissan Leaf

To safely remove the tonneau cover from the cargo area:

  1. Unhook the left and right retaining straps from the rear hatch frame.
  2. Gently lift the rear edge of the tonneau cover upward.

Unclipping the tonneau cover from the side pillar anchors inside the trunk

  1. Unclip and disengage the main tonneau cover pins from the rear pillar brackets.
  2. Slide the cover down carefully along the back of the rear seats.
  3. Completely remove the tonneau cover from the vehicle by pulling either the left or right side backward and away from the side trim pillar.

Stowing golf bags

Under normal circumstances, up to two standard-sized golf bags can be conveniently stowed in the rear luggage area of your Nissan Leaf. To pack them correctly, insert the top end of the first golf bag into the deep right side of the cargo area (marked 1), then swing and rotate the bottom of the bag backward into the trunk space (marked 2).

Next, guide the top of the second golf bag into the same right side of the cargo area (marked 3) and slide the bottom section of this bag forward as far as it can comfortably go (marked 4).

Please keep in mind that due to differences in individual manufacturer specifications, shapes, and dimensions, you may occasionally find that certain oversized golf bags cannot be stowed together in this configuration.
