WARNING

Failure to strictly follow the safety warnings and operational instructions for the proper use of the I-LI system could result in an unintended vehicle path, loss of control, and subsequent serious injury or death.

  • The I-LI system is a driver-assist feature; it will not steer the vehicle autonomously in all conditions nor is it designed to prevent a total loss of vehicle control. It remains the driver's absolute responsibility to remain alert, practice safe driving, keep the Nissan Leaf securely within the traveling lane, and maintain full physical control of the steering wheel at all times.
  • The I-LI system is primarily optimized for use on well-developed freeways, motorways, or marked highways. It may fail to detect lane markers accurately in certain adverse road, severe weather, or complex driving conditions, requiring the driver to be ready to intervene immediately.

To ensure active safety coverage, the I-LI system must be manually toggled on using either the ProPILOT Assist button on the steering wheel (for equipped Nissan Leaf models) or the dedicated dynamic driver assistance switch (for models without ProPILOT Assist) each time the vehicle's power switch is cycled to the ON position.

The Intelligent Lane Intervention system is calibrated to operate seamlessly when the vehicle is driven at cruising speeds of approximately 37 mph (60 km/h) and above, functioning reliably only when the painted lane markings on the road surface are sufficiently clear and visible to the onboard sensors.

The I-LI system proactively warns the driver the moment the vehicle begins to drift from the center of the traveling lane, utilizing both a clear visual indicator graphic in the vehicle information display and a distinct, tactile steering wheel vibration to grab the driver's attention.

If the drift continues, the system provides an active assist to help the driver steer the vehicle back toward the center of the lane by subtly applying individual braking pressure to the left or right wheels for a brief, calculated duration.

To perform this precision monitoring, the I-LI system continuously analyzes the lane markers on the traveling path through the high-definition camera unit A located high on the windshield above the interior rearview mirror.
