Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (I-FCW)
WARNING
The Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (I-FCW) system is a supportive safety feature; failing to adhere to the provided operational instructions or relying solely on this technology could result in a severe collision, causing serious injury or death.
- While the I-FCW system is engineered to provide an early alert to help the driver react before a potential impact, it is not designed to avoid a collision autonomously. Maintaining constant situational awareness, driving defensively, and retaining full control of your Nissan Leaf remain your primary responsibilities at all times.
The I-FCW system is designed to extend your field of perception by monitoring the vehicle directly ahead in your lane, providing a timely warning if that vehicle initiates sudden braking or if it begins to decelerate rapidly, thereby giving you more time to respond to traffic flow changes.
To perform this task, the I-FCW system utilizes a precision-engineered radar sensor mounted at the front of the Nissan Leaf. This sensor continuously transmits and receives signals to measure the precise distance and closing speed between your vehicle and the car traveling ahead in the same lane.
