Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Heated seat switches

Front seat heating control switches on the center console
Front

To ensure maximum comfort during colder weather, the front seats and the available rear outboard seats in your Nissan Leaf are equipped with sophisticated built-in heating elements. The control switches, conveniently located on the center console and positioned at the side of the front passenger seatback, allow for precise, independent thermal management for each occupant.

1. First, ensure the vehicle power switch is set to the ON position.

2. Select your desired intensity by pushing the switch to either the LO or HI position, depending on the current ambient temperature and your personal comfort preference.

Once engaged, the integrated indicator light within the switch will illuminate to confirm the system is active.

3. When you wish to deactivate the heating function, simply return the switch to the neutral center position and verify that the indicator light has extinguished.

Rear seat heating control switches
Rear

The seat heating system is governed by a precise internal thermostat that cycles the power on and off automatically to maintain a steady, comfortable temperature. The indicator light will remain lit as long as the switch is in an active position.

Once the cabin of your Nissan Leaf reaches a comfortable temperature, or whenever you are preparing to exit the vehicle, please be sure to manually turn the switch off to conserve energy and manage the system effectively.

The heated seats consume significantly less power than the primary cabin heater. Utilizing these seat warmers can be a strategic way to extend your vehicle's driving range by allowing you to rely less on the main climate control system, or simply to provide a more luxurious, cozy experience during your commute.

WARNING

For your safety, do not use or allow passengers to use the seat heating function if they cannot monitor elevated seat temperatures or if they have an inability to feel pain in body parts in contact with the seat. Extended use of the seat heater by individuals with these sensitivities could result in serious physical injury.

CAUTION

  • Avoid using the seat heating system for unnecessarily long durations or when the seat is not being occupied.
  • Do not place heat-insulating materials such as heavy blankets, cushions, or aftermarket seat covers on the seats while the heater is active, as this may cause the seat surface to overheat.
  • To prevent permanent damage to the heating elements, do not place heavy or sharp objects on the seat surface, and avoid piercing the upholstery with pins or similar items.
  • Should any liquid be spilled on the heated seat, it is important to remove it immediately using a dry cloth to prevent moisture from affecting the electrical components.
  • When performing interior detailing, never use gasoline, paint thinner, or similar volatile solvents, as they can damage the seat materials and internal systems.
  • If you notice any unusual behavior or if the heated seat fails to function as expected, turn the switch off immediately and have the electrical system inspected. We strongly recommend visiting a NISSAN certified LEAF dealer for professional service.
