Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Front power seat adjustment (if so equipped for driver's seat)

Power seat control switches located on the side of the Nissan Leaf driver's seat

Operating tips

  • The power seat motor in your Nissan Leaf is engineered with an auto-reset overload protection circuit. If the motor ceases operation during an adjustment, simply wait approximately 30 seconds for the system to reset, and then you may reactivate the switch to continue.
  • To preserve the integrity of your vehicle's energy storage, avoid operating the power seat switches for extended periods when the system is not in the READY mode. Continuous operation while the vehicle is powered down will lead to unnecessary discharge of the 12-volt battery.

Forward and backward

By moving the primary horizontal switch forward or backward, you can effortlessly slide the seat to your preferred driving or seating position, allowing for optimal reach to the steering wheel and pedals of your Nissan Leaf.

Reclining

Utilize the recline switch to tilt the seatback until you achieve the most comfortable angle for your journey.

This reclining functionality allows for precise adjustments to accommodate occupants of varying heights and builds, ensuring maximum comfort and helping you maintain proper seat belt positioning across your chest and lap. For comprehensive safety guidelines regarding seat belt alignment, please refer to the "Precautions on seat belt usage" section of your manual. Furthermore, the seatback can be reclined fully to provide a comfortable space to rest while the vehicle is securely parked.

Simply push the control switch in the direction indicated to adjust the degree of support provided to your lumbar region.

Flexible Seating

Rear bench seat release mechanism for folding seats in the Nissan Leaf

Folding the rear bench seat

To maximize your cargo capacity, you can easily fold down the rear seatbacks by pulling the release knob located at the top of the seat.

When you need to return the rear seats to their original upright position, lift each seatback upward and push it firmly into the latch until you feel and hear it lock securely into place.

WARNING

  • Never attempt to fold down the rear seats if there are passengers occupying the rear area or if any items are resting on the seat surfaces.
  • Never permit anyone to ride in the cargo area or occupy the rear seats while they are in the folded-down position.

Occupying these areas without proper seat belts and head restraints poses a severe risk of death or serious injury in the event of an accident or sudden braking maneuver.

  • Always secure cargo effectively using ropes or cargo straps to prevent shifting or sliding during travel. Ensure that no cargo is stacked higher than the level of the seatbacks; in a collision or abrupt stop, loose or high-stacked objects can become dangerous projectiles and cause personal injury.
  • When restoring the seatbacks to their upright seating position, always verify that they are fully engaged and locked. If the seatbacks are not completely secured, the seats may collapse unexpectedly, potentially causing injuries to passengers during an emergency stop or collision.
