Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Seats
WARNING
- Never ride in a moving vehicle with the seatback significantly reclined. This practice is extremely dangerous. When a seat is reclined, the shoulder belt cannot maintain proper contact with your body; in the event of a collision, you could be forcefully thrown into the belt, resulting in severe neck or other critical injuries.
Furthermore, you face the grave danger of sliding underneath the lap belt, which can lead to life-threatening internal injuries.
- To ensure the highest level of safety while your Nissan Leaf is in motion, always keep the seatback in an upright position. Maintain a proper seating posture by sitting well back in the seat with your spine straight and both feet firmly planted on the floor, adjusting the seat distance to maintain comfortable control over the pedals.
- After finalizing your seat adjustment, gently rock your body back and forth to confirm that the seat tracks have engaged and are securely locked into place.
- Never leave children unattended inside the vehicle. They may unknowingly interact with gear selectors, switches, or other controls, potentially causing the Nissan Leaf to move unexpectedly, which could lead to a catastrophic accident.
- To prevent the risk of injury or fatality resulting from unintended operation of the vehicle or its electronic systems, never leave children, individuals who require assistance, or pets unattended in the cabin. Additionally, be aware that on warm days, the internal temperature of a closed vehicle can spike rapidly to levels that pose an immediate and severe risk of injury or death to both people and pets.
- For your safety, never attempt to adjust the driver's seat while the vehicle is in motion. Full concentration must remain on operating the vehicle. Sudden movement of the seat during driving could distract you or disrupt your physical connection to the controls, leading to a loss of vehicle command.
- The seatback should never be reclined beyond what is necessary for individual comfort.
Seat belts are engineered to provide maximum protection when the passenger is sitting straight up. Increasing the recline angle significantly raises the likelihood of sliding under the lap belt during an impact, which compromises your safety.
CAUTION
When customizing your seat position, take care to keep hands and fingers clear of any moving tracks or mechanical components to avoid potential pinching or injury.
