Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Cruise control operations

The Nissan Leaf cruise control system is designed to provide a comfortable driving experience by allowing you to maintain a set speed between 25 to 90 mph (40 to 144 km/h) without the need to keep your foot on the accelerator pedal during long stretches of road.

To activate the system, simply push the main cruise control switch. Once enabled, the cruise Illuminated cruise control ready indicator on the Nissan Leaf display indicator will illuminate in the vehicle information display to confirm the system is in standby mode.

To set your desired cruising speed, accelerate your Nissan Leaf to your preferred velocity, press the SET- switch, and release it. Once you take your foot off the accelerator pedal, the vehicle will automatically maintain that speed.

  • If you need to accelerate to pass another vehicle, you can freely depress the accelerator pedal. Once you release the pedal, the system will seamlessly return the Nissan Leaf to your previously set cruising speed.
  • Please be aware that the vehicle may struggle to maintain the exact set speed on steep winding or hilly roads. In such challenging terrain, it is safer to drive manually without using the cruise control.

To cancel the preset speed, use one of the following methods:

1. Push the CANCEL switch.

2. Lightly tap the brake pedal.

3. Turn the main cruise control switch off. The cruise Cruise control system deactivated indicator indicator in the vehicle information display will subsequently turn off.

  • If you accidentally depress the brake pedal while simultaneously pushing the RES+ or SET- switch while trying to reset your speed, the cruise control may disengage. To reset, turn the cruise control switch off once and then turn it back on to restart the sequence.
  • The cruise control system will automatically cancel if the vehicle speed drops more than 8 mph (13 km/h) below your set speed, as this often indicates an obstruction or significant change in traffic.
  • Moving the shift lever into the N (Neutral) position will also result in an immediate cancellation of the cruise control.

To reset your Nissan Leaf at a faster cruising speed, use one of the following methods:

  • Depress the accelerator pedal manually. Once the vehicle reaches your new preferred speed, press and release the SET- switch.
  • Push and hold the RES+ switch; the vehicle will accelerate, and you can release the switch as soon as you reach the desired speed.
  • Push and quickly release the RES+ switch to incrementally increase your speed.

Each time you press the switch, the set speed will increase by approximately 1 mph or 1.6 km/h.

To reset at a slower cruising speed, use one of the following methods:

  • Lightly tap the brake pedal to slow the vehicle. Once it reaches your preferred lower speed, push and release the SET- switch.
  • Push and hold the SET- switch, releasing it once the vehicle has decelerated to your preferred speed.
  • Push and quickly release the SET- switch to incrementally decrease your speed.

Each time you press the switch, the set speed will decrease by approximately 1 mph or 1 km/h.

To resume the previously set speed, simply push and release the RES+ switch. The Nissan Leaf will automatically return to the last set cruising speed, provided the current vehicle speed is above 25 mph (40 km/h).
