Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Your Nissan Leaf is equipped with a sophisticated Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that continuously tracks the inflation pressure of all four tires. When the dedicated low tire pressure warning light illuminates on the instrument cluster, accompanied by the "Tire Pressure Low - Add Air" notification on the vehicle information display, it indicates that one or more tires are significantly under-inflated.

The TPMS will trigger an alert once the vehicle has been driven at speeds exceeding 16 mph (25 km/h). This threshold ensures that the system provides accurate, real-time data during typical driving conditions.

WARNING

  • The radio frequency signals transmitted by the TPMS may interfere with sensitive electronic medical devices. Individuals using a pacemaker should consult the equipment manufacturer regarding potential interference before operating the vehicle.
  • If the low tire pressure warning light illuminates while you are driving, avoid sudden steering inputs or abrupt braking. Safely reduce your speed, exit the roadway, and stop the Nissan Leaf at the nearest secure location.

Driving on under-inflated tires can cause permanent structural damage to the tire casing and significantly increase the risk of a blowout.

Operating a vehicle in this state can lead to severe mechanical damage, loss of control, and potentially serious personal injury.

Inspect the pressure of all four tires. Adjust the pressure to the recommended COLD tire inflation levels specified on the Tire and Loading Information label located on the vehicle. This action should automatically extinguish the warning light. If the light persists after proper inflation, the tire may have suffered a puncture, or the TPMS may require professional servicing.

Should you experience a flat tire, seek repair or replacement immediately. If all tires are properly inflated and the light remains active, have the system inspected by a certified Nissan LEAF dealer.

  • When utilizing a wheel that lacks a TPMS sensor—such as an emergency spare—the system will be unable to monitor that position, and the warning light will flash for approximately one minute before remaining illuminated. Arrange for standard tire replacement or TPMS resetting at a certified Nissan LEAF dealership as soon as possible.
  • Installing replacement tires that do not meet the original manufacturer specifications may interfere with the operational integrity of the TPMS.
  • The Genuine NISSAN Emergency Tire Repair Sealant is designed for temporary puncture repair.

Do not introduce generic liquid or aerosol sealants into the tires, as these chemical agents can contaminate and permanently damage the delicate tire pressure sensors located inside the rim.

  • NISSAN strongly recommends using only the Genuine NISSAN Emergency Tire Sealant provided with your vehicle kit. Third-party sealants can degrade the valve stem seal, potentially causing chronic air pressure loss. Following the use of the emergency tire puncture repair kit, you should visit a certified Nissan LEAF dealer to address the tire damage properly and ensure system functionality.
