Air conditioning system refrigerant and lubricant recommendations

To ensure optimal performance and system longevity, the air conditioning system in your Nissan Leaf must be charged exclusively with the specified refrigerant, HFO-1234yf (R-1234yf), and the designated compressor oil, ND-OIL11 or an equivalent approved lubricant.

CAUTION

The use of any unauthorized refrigerant or compressor oil will result in severe, irreversible damage to the air conditioning system. Such contamination necessitates the complete replacement of all air conditioning components to restore functionality.

The HFO-1234yf (R-1234yf) refrigerant utilized in your Nissan Leaf is an environmentally responsible choice that does not deplete the earth's ozone layer. While this refrigerant is atmospheric-friendly, strict governmental regulations mandate the professional recovery and recycling of all refrigerant during any automotive A/C service. To guarantee safe and compliant operation, the air conditioning system must only be serviced by trained and certified technicians following the SAE J2845 standard. A NISSAN certified LEAF dealer employs the specialized technicians and advanced equipment necessary to properly recover and recycle your refrigerant. Furthermore, only new, SAE J2842-certified evaporators or inner condensers (where equipped) are permitted as replacement parts.

A damaged or leaking air conditioning evaporator or inner condenser must never be repaired, nor should they be replaced with components sourced from used or salvaged vehicles. To replace a compromised evaporator or inner condenser, you must use exclusively new, SAE J2842-certified components. It is highly recommended that you rely on the expertise of a NISSAN certified LEAF dealer for all maintenance regarding your climate control system.

When traveling or registering in another country

If you are planning to travel internationally with your Nissan Leaf, you must first verify that your charging equipment is fully compatible with the local electrical infrastructure and voltage standards of your destination.

Should you transfer the registration of your vehicle to a different country, state, province, or district, it may become necessary to perform mechanical or software modifications to the vehicle to ensure compliance with local laws and safety mandates.

Motor vehicle safety standards and environmental regulations vary significantly by jurisdiction; consequently, vehicle specifications can differ. If you intend to import or register your vehicle in a new location, all modifications, transportation logistics, and legal registration processes are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. NISSAN cannot be held liable for any technical incompatibilities or legal inconveniences that may arise during this process.
