Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Li-ion battery temperature gauge

Li-ion battery temperature gauge for the Nissan Leaf, showing normal operating zones

This gauge provides a real-time monitor for the operating temperature of the high-voltage Li-ion battery pack.

The battery temperature is considered to be within the optimal operating range when the indicator is located within the designated zone 1 as depicted in the illustration.

Please note that the Li-ion battery temperature fluctuates naturally based on current driving intensity, the rate of charge, and the prevailing outside air temperature.

NOTE:

  • If the gauge indicates that the Li-ion battery temperature is approaching the upper red zone, we recommend reducing your vehicle speed to allow the temperature to normalize. If the indicator exceeds the normal operating range, the vehicle will trigger the power limitation indicator light, and the traction motor's output will be automatically reduced to protect the battery pack.

Consequently, you will notice that the Nissan Leaf feels less responsive to accelerator input while the power limitation light remains illuminated.

  • In conditions where the outside temperature is extremely low, the Li-ion temperature gauge may not register a reading initially. In such cases, the vehicle may be unable to enter the "READY to drive" mode. If this persists, please have the battery management system inspected by a NISSAN certified LEAF dealer for professional service.
