Nissan Leaf 2018-2025 (ZE1) Owner's Manual : Brakes
If you notice that the braking system does not feel responsive or operate as expected, have the vehicle inspected immediately. We recommend visiting a NISSAN certified LEAF dealer for professional brake servicing.
WARNING
Never attempt to adjust the height of the brake pedal yourself. Tampering with this setting could compromise the braking efficiency and safety logic of your Nissan Leaf, potentially resulting in a serious accident. If you feel an adjustment is necessary, contact your local NISSAN certified LEAF dealer.
Brake pad wear warning
The disc brake system is equipped with audible wear indicators. When the brake pads have reached their service limit and require replacement, they will emit a distinct, high-pitched scraping sound while the vehicle is in motion. Initially, this sound may only occur when you apply pressure to the brake pedal.
As the pad material continues to wear down, this warning sound will become constant, even when the pedal is not depressed. If you hear this warning, you should have your brakes inspected and serviced at the earliest opportunity.
Please note that under certain driving conditions or specific climate environments, occasional brake squeak or mild noise can occur. This is often normal during light-to-moderate braking and does not necessarily indicate a malfunction or impact the performance of the braking system.
To ensure long-term reliability, always adhere to the recommended brake inspection intervals found in the "Maintenance and schedules" section of this owner's manual.
